Abstract:

This paper introduces a novel link based ranking algorithm based on a model of focused web surfers. FocusedRank is described and compared to implementations of PageRank and Topic-Sensitive PageRank and a user study is conducted to measure the relevance and precision of each. Our results are shown to be statistically significant, warranting further research into link-based ranking schemes for focused search.
